Sunday school for adults – Introduction

I was brought up in a strictly religious environment. Every week I had go to Church – about three times, attend Sunday School, 'Kinderkrans' (Children's religious ring), CSV ('Christian Student Association'), Hostel 'stiltetyd' (quiet time) – seven times a week, and many other. So when I left school, I had had enough of religion. But … it prepared me for the day I met God and Jesus Christ some twenty years later.

Today I am astounded to hear that all these things have been banned from the school program or curricula, and I mostly find people who have never been to Church and who do not even have a Bible. I am writing this series for them, to solve their BKDS, which, as everybody knows, is their Bible Knowledge Deficit Syndrome.

The cross is not greater than His grace

This is such a beautiful and comforting song. Read it and think about it. The text was written and the tune was composed both by Ballington Booth from England in 1857. He was the son of William and Catherine Mumford Booth, founders of the Salvation Army.

  1. The cross that He gave may be heavy,
  1. But it ne’er outweighs His grace;
  1. The storm that I feared may surround me,
  1. But it ne’er excludes His face.

Psalm 101: The 9 House Rules to live by

Psalm 101 - Of David. A psalm.

 1 I will sing of your love and justice;

to you, LORD, I will sing praise.

2 I will be careful to lead a blameless life—

when will you come to me?

I will conduct the affairs of my house

   with a blameless heart.

3 I will not look with approval
   on anything that is vile.

(Jer. 3:8)

Life in the afternoon: My Personal Testimony - Freedom and Peace for ever

Life in the Afternoon Part 7 - My Personal Testimony ... Freedom and Peace for ever.

I started this story off with the intention of writing it only in one or two parts, about a specific enjoyable soaring flight, but one thing led to another - as it usually does in life - and I am now find myself in Part 7, observing how the thought thermals of my mind developed around me. Yes, I was personally involved in this flight, but on reflection, it seems to me that I was also just an observer and an onlooker as this story developed and unfolded into much more than that.
I must confess that I have no free will, when I start to write, as it just flows out in a never ending stream. I can resist it, if I try hard enough, but I do not wish to to upset the muse or exercise my free will unduly.

Mover of Men & Mountains

Suggested Reading:Le Tourneau: Mover of Men & Mountains
(true story)

When an industrialist invites God into his business, miracles happen. Despite never having gotten past seventh grade in school and experiencing many failures early on, R.G. Le-Tourneau rose to eminence in the competitive world of manufacturing and construction. Although his competitors thought him insane, history has proven that his inventive genius was decades ahead of its time.

KIEWIETMOED

‘n Volle elfhonderd kilogram weeg hy swaar,
Dis my stoet se nuwe Limousin bul,
hier in sy kamp loop hy net waar hy wil.
