Interesting Bible Facts: Other

    - The theme of the Bible is the same in both the Old and New Testaments. It is the redemption of man.

- All other religious texts were written by men who claimed to be speaking for God. Only the Bible claims to be written by God, speaking to men.

- The number 40 is used many times in the Bible. It often means God is about to usher in a new event or era. For instances, rain during the flood lasted 40 days, spies explored Canaan for 40 days, Jonah warned Nineveh for 40 days, and Jesus fasted in the wilderness for 40 days.

- Various passages which speak of Jesus Christ as God – John 1:1, John 20:28, Romans 9:5, Philippians 2:11, and Colossians 1:16.

- Various passages which speak of Jesus Christ's humanity – John 1:14, Luke 2:7, Luke 2:40, Luke 8:23, John 4:6 and Hebrews 4:15.

- The two Testaments form two volumes of one work. The first is incomplete without the second and second cannot be understood without the first. Together they are Gods revelation to man of the provision He had made for human salvation.

- The first book of the Bible tells of a serpent tempting Eve. The last book of the Bible calls Satan "that serpent of old, who is the Devil." (Genesis 3; Revelation 20:2).

-  "Do not be afraid" appears 365 times in the Bible. Hmm, same amount of days in a year!

- The oldest parable in the Bible is in Judges 9:8-15.

- Various passages which speak of Jesus Christ's humanity – John 1:14, Luke 2:7, Luke 2:40, Luke 8:23, John 4:6 and Hebrews 4:15.

- Knowing that the Bible claims to be written by God, is there any evidence to prove this supernatural words and of the Bible? There is. From history, archaeology, science and prophecy we have a lot of evidence to show that the Bible is indeed the word of God.

- A shepherd boy discovered old clay jars in a cave by the Dead Sea. The old jars contained dusty scrolls, which turned out to be ancient copies of the Old Testament.

- Paul four of his letters in the Bible while in prison. They are Ephesians 3:1, Philippians 1:7, Colossians 4:3, and Philemon.

- The New Testament was faithfully transcribed into Hebrew, Syriac, Egyptian, Coptic, Latin and other languages by 60-70 AD.

- There was never any historical record of Jewish debates concerning of the authorship of the Torah.

- Most of the Old Testament is written in Hebrew, the language spoken by the Israelites. Except for a few words and sentences, the New Testament was composed in Greek, the common language in the Hellenistic world.
